WiiCade Announces a Wii-based Cinema

In a move that is the first of its kind for the popular Wii console, WiiCade  (a popular Flash gaming site for the Wii) has launched a new podcast viewer that promises a television experience on the console.

Dubbed WiiCade Cinema, this sophisticated podcast viewer takes the  years of experience accumulated by the WiiCade staff to offer a simple and easy to use Podcast viewer. Rather than loading an RSS feed manually and through long lists of text, this new Cinema abstracts pre-configured feeds into "Channels", much like watching television. While this limits the feeds that can be watched, it also exposes viewers to some of the highest quality entertainment available on the Internet today.

7 channels and 450 episodes, with more to come!

From old cartoons to world news, this new viewer is ships loaded with seven channels and over 450 episodes! And that's just the initial offering. WiiCade has expressed plans to greatly expand the channel-list over the next few weeks.

This new WiiCade Cinema is part of an effort to turn WiiCade into a one-stop platform for Internet-based multimedia on the Wii. Already the number one destination for Flash and Javascript gaming on the Wii, WiiCade's is hoping that their expanded offerings will allow Wii users to get more value out of their Internet Channel investment than ever before.

Visit http://movies.wiicade.com for more information.

The release of WiiCade Cinema coincides with the second anniversary of the popular gaming website.

WiiCade and WiiMedia are cooperative members of the WiiNode Network.

Very nice.
The video quality could be a little bit better. I wouldn't mind waiting two seconds of loading if it meant I could watch it in better quality.

Oh, and how did you guys get the liscences for all of those cartoons and other shows? Do you even need them?

@Zim - As the article says, WiiCade Cinema is a Podcast Viewer. Which means that it's showing you videos published via RSS feeds. The X-Play feeds are published by G4, the CNN feeds by CNN, the Gnooze feeds by Gnooze.com, etc.  The cartoons and TV shows are old, public domain stuff that originally came from Archive.org. Someone was kind enough to create an RSS feed for the cartoons, and we're looking at building on that with some new stuff like Charlie Chaplin.
