It looks like Harmonix is stepping up to the plate this Christmas and providing unexpected competition for Guitar Hero: World Tour. 

According to a recent press release from Harmonix, Rock Band Special Edition will drop in price to a mere $99.99! (Wii & PS2) Included in this bundle is the game disc, the guitar controller, the drum kit, and a microphone.

Originally released for $169.99, the Wii version of Rock Band was derided by critics for its lack of Touring, Character Creation, DLC, and online play. However, this new price comes in nearly a hundred dollars lower than Activision's Guitar Hero: World Tour bundle, and equals the price of the Guitar-only kit. This gap in price may force many consumers to rethink their opinion of the Rock Band bundle.
