Article by: Wii60FTWIt should come as no surprise to anyone that Nintendo President Satoru Iwata has gone on record as stating that Nintendo is already hard at work on their next console.
“Every hardware
needs some
revolutionary
features”
--Satoru Iwata
"We are always preparing for the next hardware, We are under development. ... But the hardware is a kind of box that consumers reluctantly buy in order to play our games."
A lingering question though, is how Nintendo will follow up the massively popular Wii and its motion controls: What comes next?
"Every hardware needs some revolutionary features," says Iwata. "This time around, it happened to be we had a revolutionary user interface. Will it be the same for the next generation? I really can't tell".
What does Nintendo have planned? So what of the Nintendo consumer base? Should they expect another revolution from Nintendo?
"It's natural for the current customer to expect Nintendo is going to once again do something different. If the people are expecting so many different things from Nintendo, it's going to be difficult for us to go beyond that expectation again."
With Nintendo Wiis still selling out everywhere however, it is unlikely Nintendo will provide answers to their next generation questions any time soon.
