What could Kirby possibly
have in common with a
"Celestial Event"?
Nintendo is inviting families and gamers to attend an "extraordinary celestial event" in four U.S. cities, taking place today, Thursday, Sept. 18, 2008.
It may just be a nice light show, as Nintendo claims it will be viewable within one mile of Kirby Middle School, Kirby Historical Mill, Kirby Park, and the Kirby Gate Shopping Center. Or it could be a promotional event for a the Kirby franchise.
Will Nintendo be making an announcement? If so, what could it be? A new game announcement? A pump-up of the Kirby IP? Could it be a simple launch announcement of Nintendo's new DS title, Kirby Super Star™ Ultra? Nintendo's vague press release doesn't provide much information, other than that it will be, "the reemergence of a luminous entity that citizens from all walks of life will appreciate...A luminous spectacle that onlookers from coast to coast will be talking about."
Given the amount of build-up Nintendo is creating around this event, we have decided to send a representative on WiiMedia's behalf. If things go according to plan, I3IackSabbath will be on-hand at the event to provide up to date information on Nintendo's latest surprise! If you have any questions you'd like him to ask, post them below and we'll see if we can get them answered!
Optimum viewing locations are as follows and within a one-mile radius:
- Kirby Middle School — 1328 28th Street, Birmingham, AL 35234
- Kirby Historical Mill — 275 Church Road, Medford, NJ 08055
- Kirby Park — 301 Northampton Street, Kingston, PA 18704
- Kirby Gate Shopping Center — 6548 Quince, Memphis, TN 38119
The last Kirby game, Kirby Air Ride, was released five years ago in 2003.
