This year's first choice for "The Next-Gen's top 25 people of 2007" was somewhat obvious, considering all the frenzy around Nintendo's next generation console launch, the Nintendo Wii.
Satoru Iwata, Nintendo's President and CEO, surpassed all expectations and did a tremendous work to bring back Nintendo as current leader in next generation consoles. Iwata was also responsible for the success of the Nintendo DS.
The Next-Gen's top 25 people of 2007 ranking list is based on public nominations as well as internal research made to determine who should be the 25 personalities of the year in the domain. Various criterias are evaluated in order to select those 25 elite people in the next generation consoles development and industry, such as: positive and resounding contribution to the gaming industry. People who have been nominated in the prior year can be eligible the year after, as long as their contribution in the gaming industry has been greater than the previous year of activities.
We could also take the opportunity to mention that Nintendo, more precisely Yoshiaki Koizumi the Director for Super Mario Galaxy, also ranked in the top 25, in sixth position actually, for the amazing work done to bring the first Mario game on the Wii gaming console.
