Kirby Super Star Ultra

If you think we showed you everything in yesterday's news story and interview, think again! I3IackSabbath has brought back many more goodies in the form of event videos, promotional images, info on Kirby Super Star Ultra, and more!

First up is exclusive video footage of the Kirby clouds being made - filmed by our man on the street, I3IackSabbath:

Nintendo was also kind enough to provide us with official footage of the event. Here you can see David Young discussing the purpose of the event and why Kiry Super Star Ultra is a game you might want to purchase:

Last but not least, we have Nintendo's trailer for the new Kirby game. New features like the CGI movies and Kirby minigames are clearly visible in this trailer:

Platform:Nintendo DS™
Launch Date:09/22/08
ESRB:E (Everyone): Mild Cartoon Violence
Game Type:Action/Platformer
Players:1-4 (2 using multiple game cards, up to 4 using DS Download Play)
Developer:HAL Laboratory, Inc.

For those who are not familiar with Kirby Super Star Ultra, the game is a remake of the classic SuperNES title Kirby Super Star.

The SuperNES title was ahead of its time by focusing on mini-games, a recent trend in modern gaming. The title contained 6 platforming adventures and 3 non-platforming mini-games.

Kirby Super Star Ultra improves on this formula by adding additional minigames, CGI movies to reward players for completing objectives, and completely revamped graphics to take advantage of the Nintendo DS's superior graphical capabilities.

Nintendo has also added an additional 5 games, bringing the total number of platforming adventures and minigames up to 14 games!

The new games are as follows:

  • Revenge of the King - A new platforming adventure
  • Meta Knight Ultra - A new adventure game where you take control of Meta Knight using the DS's touch screen interface.
  • Kirby Card Swipe - Pit yourself against your friends in a WiFi duel for supremacy! Swipe three cards before your opponents, least you suffer defeat at the hands of superior card-swiping skills! The game plays out like a competitive game of Memory, except that the computer reveals a card at random. You must be the first to find the match to score.
  • Kirby on the Draw - A multiplayer shooting gallary that's sure to please. No memory work is involved in this game. Simply use your stylus to shoot the targets as they appear. Reload by tapping the bottom of the screen.
  • Snack Tracks - This minigame puts Kirby's eating ability to the test! Kirby and his pals are at the end of a conveyor belt with food coming toward them. Kirby will eat anything that comes his way, so it's your job to keep your belt free from bugs and rocks.

As with many Nintendo DS games, you can use one DS game card to temporarily download games to the DS units of your friends. You can then square off in a multiplayer battle of up to four players!

As with previous Kirby games, this title is colorful, lighthearted, gradually builds up the challenge, and is suitable for all ages. Expect Kirby Super Star Ultra to hit store shelves on September 22.

As soon as I get enough cash I'm buying this game. I remember the original being such a fun game.

Huh, the cutscenes remind me of Brawl. Nice graphics.
