Megaman 9 Rumored

Megaman has gone through numerous spin-offs with the X, Battle Network, ZX, and Starforce series. In the past few weeks, rumors began stirring after Capcom submitted Megaman 9 for rating to Australia's Classification Board and Classification Review Board. This organization is analogous to the ESRB in the U.S.

With a rating now pending for Megaman 9, it seems likely that a new Megaman game is coming our way soon. Capcom has submitted the game under multiple platforms.

Leaks from a supposed Beta tester at Capcom, posted under the psuedonym "The Shadow" have also surfaced. Here is basically what this person has released:

  • Rockman 9 will feature a retro 8-bit art style, a homage to the earlier games
  • Two playable characters: Rockman and Blues (ProtoMan). Each has their own unique storylines.
  • A popular belief is that RM9 will act as the 'link' to the events of the X Series. This is not so, The storyline DOES NOT lead into the X Series, rather it's a 'traditional' plot.
  • Many new characters, new Robot Masters and maybe some new supporting characters.
  • Gameplay is reminiscent of Rockman 3-6.
  • Online components: Leader boards and some unknown form of online play
  • RM9 will be on all major home consoles: Wii, X360 and PS3. X360 and PS3 users will be able to purchase the game from their respective download services. It's unknown how the Wii version will work, whether it will be a downloaded game or not

Maybe with this iteration Megaman can revive his reputation for videogames. Lets just hope capcom will get things right this time.

Megaman, hehe I think this game was already running when I first put hands on Atari 2600 and Coleco at age 4-5.

Hoping that this version would be just as entertaining as the old versions were.

Good one jbanes!
