Everyone's favorite monochrome Wii title, Madworld (developed by Platinum Games, published by SEGA exclusively for the Wii), recently saw the launch of its own North American website. As evidenced by the lack of content, the site itself (http://madworldwii.com/) is just beginning. There are a few admin posts, images, and videos, but little in regards of actual news. The information that has been released is not exactly a gold mine, but there is one juicy bit of info:
Take control and complete in a variety of ultra-violent ‘Blood Bath Challenges’ which can be played offline multiplayer with your friends or enemies.
This confirms local multiplayer support in the game. Whether there will be support for online multiplayer or not is still unknown. The prospect of multiplayer in a game such as this is appealing, but there are few details yet about what players can expect.
The new site also sheds light on a rather shady aspect of the game - the story. Again, its not a huge unveiling, but the information is enticing.
“Driven into quarantine and chaos by the outbreak of a deadly virus, ‘survival of the fittest’ takes on a whole new meaning as trapped citizens are pitted against each other in the gruesome sports show, ‘Death Watch’.”
Madworkd is scheduled for release in Q1 2009 for Mature audiences only.
