In an interview with the New York Times, Reggie Fils-Aime, Nintendo's lord, has offered a little more thrilling information on the Wii's ability to interact with the DS.
While we already know that the Wii will be able to download and transmit DS demos to the handheld, we now can announce, as per Mr. Fils-Aime's statements, that you will also soon be able to download full games to your DS.
While discussing the demo download feature, as well as DS DLC (like Japan, US' version from Professor Layton will feature extra downloadable puzzles), he tells the NY Times that gamers will be able to download "complete games" to the DS via the Wii's upcoming Everyone's Nintendo channel.
Yet no other further precise info was revealed. The suspense is still in the air on the channel's Western launch or what kind of "complete games" would be available. Some might want to interpret this, or at least bring up the question about the Game Boy and/or Game Boy Advance being added to the Virtual Console's lineup?
Announce demented: It seems that NY Times had a bad week, the above mentioned information is wrong. PLEASE take note that the complete DS games will NOT be available for download through a wireless connection on the Nintendo Wii gaming console.
The Nintendo DS will only and simply be able to receive demo versions of some DS games from Wii, but not the entire game. The demo will be erased once the Nintendo DS is turned off.
We apologize for the hopes it may have created to some of you, our dear DS and Wii fans. We hope to provide you more good news very soon about new features and/or components that will be added to the Wii eventually.
