Chrono Trigger was released in Japan on March 11, 1995, to be followed by the US release in August of the same year. It was widely accepted as one of the greatest RPGs on the Super Nintendo at the time. Now, after more than a 13 year hiatus, Square Enix has announced that Chrono Trigger will be coming to the Nintendo DS.

Rumors of the next Chrono Trigger game first surfaced when a Japanese magazine scan showed the words "Chrono Trigger" in the upcoming releases section. Square Enix's website then posted a countdown, which further added fuel to the rumor fire. These rumors were later confirmed by Square themselves who said:

"We will be releasing an updated DS version that'll avail itself of the little-portable-that-could's dual screens and wireless multiplayer mode, as well as slipstreaming in a brand new dungeon."

Expect Chrono Trigger to be released this holiday season.
