Overview
In a different approach than previous Driver series games, Parallel Lines takes place in only one city being New York. After the critics of the underwhelming performance in DRIV3R, particularly the often-derided on-foot sections, Parallel Lines strikes back with what made their mark in prior editions and focuses focuses on driving, although shooting remains part of the game. The gameplay is simplistic, hit-or-miss controls, simplified and more cartoonish graphics so as a storyline that is somehow derivative. This is the first game of the Driver series that does not follow undercover cop Tanner. A new character by the name of TK is introduced in this new game of the series.
The game follows 18-year-old The Kid aka "TK", a talented driver who works as a getaway driver for a New York crime department. After the kidnapping and murder of a prominent Colombian drug lord, TK is set up and found guilty of charge with the murder. He is sentenced for 28 years at the Sing-Sing Prison. During his non pleasant journey, TK prepares his plans for revenge and kill each of the men who helped to frame him. When he is released in 2006, outside reality has changed and one of whom tricked him is now New York City Police Commissioner, his former associates. TK is aided by childhood friend Ray and the daughter of the drug lord TK allegedly killed to chase and kill the new Police Commissioner.
