Game Review:

Heatseeker is the first (I believe so anyway) flying game on the Wii. You control a destructive US marines plane, packed with machine guns, small missiles and extra weapons, including bombs and air-to-air missiles, which are grouped together in "weapon packs". Even though its on the ps2 and psp, what makes it different on the wii is the control system. The wiimote is used for moving, where pointing the wiimote directs the plane where to go (for example, pointing at the left of the screen would make the plane turn to the left) and the nunchuk is used as a flight stick, by preforming certain actions when prompted you can dodge oncoming missiles.

The main aim of this game is to take out all enemy units, being land, air or sea, and when needed, protect your friendly units from being destroyed by the enemy. This is fun since you make pretty big explosions by destroying anything and impactcam, which acts as a missile camera, following the missile to its enemy target and seeing your enemy destroyed upclose. The afterburners are nice aswell, giving you the ability to speed around doing something I call "flying fly-bys" and able to dodge some missiles this way.

This is Codemaster's first game for the wii, and this shows what a good format the wii is for flying games. The motion-sensing makes you feel like you're more in control of a plane, rather than a game controlling a plane. It's fun to blow up some make-believe evil forces, and it does provide a challenging story mode. The planes are all real-life marine planes, equipped with real weapons and theres quite a mix of different roles each plane excels at the most.

Here comes the bad side of this game though, which really let it down. No online play, or even multiplayer, which would of made this game much better if it existed. Limited weapon packs, meaning only certain extra weapons for certain planes, which cant get you that ultimate plane when you need it (although extra packs can be unlocked). The graphics are the worst ive seen for the wii, there are much better graphical games on the gamecube. Whilst playing through the story mode I wasnt interested in going back and doing any previous missions, since none of it seemed very replayable. I havent been bothered to play it recently because the mission im on is quite uninteresting.

All in all, I see why I was able to get it pre-owned at such a cheap price, at least it was worth the money anyway.
