Papaya Studio was founded in 1999. Three experienced artists and programmers joined their forces and launched Papaya Studio. Its computer graphic experience started in 1988 on Commodore 64 hardware.

Papaya later moved from 8-bit console games for Sega and Nintendo toward 32-bit, 3D computer graphic games for Sony PlayStation and Nintendo 64. They now produced their first Wii console video game with Disney Interactive and the Disney Princess: Enchanted Journey game in October 2007.
