Harmonix develops interactive music entertainment products and technologies. Harmonix is based in Cambridge, MA and was founded in 1995 with roots at the MIT Media Laboratory. Harmonix has been financed by Acer Technology Ventures, Collaborative Seed and Growth Partners, and SOFTBANK Investments. In 2006, Harmonix was acquired by MTV Networks, bringing its strong music gaming development talents to MTV's music-based universe of entertainment, news, gaming, and interactive content offerings.
