Frontier Developments is a UK based computer and video games development company. The company is based in Cambridge, England, and was originally founded by David Braben to develop Frontier, the sequel to the groundbreaking Elite.

Frontier was released in 1993 to critical acclaim and commercial success, and a sequel, First Encounters, followed in 1995. However, the game's publishers Gametek released an unfinished version of this game that contained many bugs, which lead to poor reviews and low sales. Frontier Developments subsequently initiated legal action against Gametek, which was eventually settled in 1999. The company claims to be working on a new Elite sequel, under the working title Elite 4, but this has been in production since 1998 leading many observers to label the game vaporware.

Aside from the Elite series, Frontier Developments has been responsible for a number of popular PC and console games, including Dog's Life and parts of the RollerCoaster Tycoon series. The company also makes games for the Wallace & Gromit franchise, and has released Wallace and Gromit in Project Zoo and a tie-in game for Wallace & Gromit: The Curse of the Were-Rabbit.

Frontier Developments is a private limited company and was incorporated in January 1994. The company remains controlled by David Braben, in the position of Chairman.
