D3 Publisher is a Japanese video game publisher. Current CEO and president is Yuji Ito, and It is known for its Simple series of low-priced console games. Their games have been released for the Game Boy Advance, Nintendo DS, PlayStation 2, PlayStation 3, Nintendo GameCube and the Xbox 360.
The name stands for "Domain 3" and refers to the three publishing "domains" the company originally intended to enter - computer and video games, music and books - although the company now exclusively publishes console games. According to D3Publisher's press release, the company was founded as early as 1992-2-5. D3 started business in 1997-4-1 as a game division of Culture Publishers Inc., which was renamed to D3Publishers Inc. in 1999-6. In 1999-7-12, the computer game division was transferred from Culture Publishers Inc. to D3Publishers Inc. Fields Corporation started investing D3Publisher, Inc. as early as 2004. In 2005-2-15, D3Publisher, Inc. announced Fields Corporation would become its parent company[1]. In 2005-12-14, D3 PUBLISHER Inc. announced it would shift to a holding company system and the name change. The holding company would become D3 Inc., which is a company owning D3 PUBLISHER Inc. in Japan, D3PUBLISHER of America Inc. and D3PUBLISHER of Europe Inc. Game publishing, sales, and development would move to D3 PUBLISHER Inc. The restructure was completed in 2006-4-1. ![]() ![]()
