In early 2003, a group of seven individuals began exploring the possibility of creating an interactive entertainment software development company with a focus on quality, efficiency and service. Over the course of the next few months, the founding team began to meet on a weekly basis wherever they could. At these meetings, they laid the foundation of what would become Black Lantern Studios, Inc.

Black Lantern Studios was incorporated August 19th, 2003 as a class C corporation in the state of Missouri, USA. When the company began full operations on January 1st, 2004 Black Lantern moved to an office at 318 Park Central East, Suite 500 in downtown Springfield, Missouri. Currently employing 28 people, the team continues to steadily grow and expand as the company continues to pursue not only more, but larger development projects.

In February of 2005, Black Lantern Studios, Inc. merged with Dungeon Monkey Studios, LLC., a company of four individuals focused on game development for the Game Boy Advance platform. The addition of the Dungeon Monkey staff and assets allowed Black Lantern to further develop their technology base while adding to their workforce.

The company has been privately funded and employee owned since the beginning. With every employee also being an owner, Black Lantern Studios is in a unique position to share its success with the same people who have taken the risk with the organization. Black Lantern continues to strive to be a great place to work, find great partners to work with, and constantly deliver great games.
